DUKTalks (DUK stands for Discovering University Knowledge) was launched as a showcase for faculty who represent the best of the College of Arts and Sciences—as demonstrated by their exploration of unexpected directions in their teaching and research.

Our speakers for the inaugural DUKTalks event last fall represented several different disciplines in the three major divisions within the College: humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Watch the videos below:

Ben Saunders, English — The Birth of the Superhero

Sara Hodges, Psychology — Reading Between the Minds

Richard Taylor, Physics — Creativity at the Intersection of Arts and Sciences

Richard York, Sociology — The Eco-Efficiency Paradox

Katie Meehan, Geography — Digital Natives: Learning for Their World, Not Ours

La Donna Forsgren: Edutainment, How I Learned to Survive the University Classroom

This year, DUKTalks will feature not only faculty but also students and alumni from the College of Arts and Sciences who also have forged their own path of discovery.
