As political instability in Yemen increases, centuries-old manuscripts are at risk.

 
 
“This is about preserving an entire cultural and intellectual history that is in peril,” says David Hollenberg, UO professor of Arabic and religious studies and founder and director of the Yemeni Manuscript Digitization Initiative (YMDI). 
 
The YMDI seeks to use advanced digitization equipment to preserve thousands of culturally significant Arabic manuscripts. Read the Cascade story.
