In From the Sidelines, A Personal History of the Institute of Molecular Biology, Lotte Streisinger devotes a chapter to her late husband, detailing his childhood escape from the Nazis, his love of nature and cooking, his little-known talent as a magician and more.

George is one of many scientists portrayed in this memoir of the early days of the IMB. Lotte Streisinger (who also illustrated the book) also shares profiles of the leading researchers who came to found the first institute of molecular biology in the country.
